Novak tried to keep her hiccups quiet, thanking whoever was listening that they weren't the loud, very painful kind this time. Caldwell always did that to her when he was on a tear.

The Daedalus had just left Atlantis, and Caldwell had once again been sent back as its commander, and not allowed to stay as the military head of Atlantis.

In his misery, Caldwell inflicted personal inspections on every section of the ship.

Hermiod called her to his station and whispered two words to her. Her hiccups stopped instantly.

How often did one hear an Asgard say 'I'm pregnant.'?

I read this years ago in a collection of Larry Niven short stories and fell in love instantly.

Man of Steel, Woman of Kleenex

It discusses the medical pitfalls involving sex and insemination at the hands of Superman.

I've met Larry Niven and the man is just too much fun.  He also invented the word -- which escapes me at the moment -- which means 'sex outside of your species but within the homonids' -- Spock's parents engaged in this practice.  Scientifically it's also kind of come to mean sex between varients of a species, like diferent kinds of penguins mating.  And probably things like lion/tiger crossbreeeds.
