Novak tried to keep her hiccups quiet, thanking whoever was listening that they weren't the loud, very painful kind this time. Caldwell always did that to her when he was on a tear.
The Daedalus had just left Atlantis, and Caldwell had once again been sent back as its commander, and not allowed to stay as the military head of Atlantis.
In his misery, Caldwell inflicted personal inspections on every section of the ship.
Hermiod called her to his station and whispered two words to her. Her hiccups stopped instantly.
