And I actually do often have to find x in my work-life. And ... algebra is fun! So was geometry but I missed most of that.
Funny algebra story: When I was in the 8th grade I had a broken arm, my left, of course, so I had ot dicate my homework. Mom did not love algrebra, and swore up and down that I'd never need it. So I was trying to explain "No, N times Y, parenthesis, then just put the 4 after it, and a line under that ..."
